I think it's a root but I'm new to Phals.

Hmm... I'm going to disagree with everyone else and say I think it looks more like a spike in the last picture.

I think we'll just have to wait and see what it grows in to... we'll be excited to see!

I've got to know my phals pretty well now, and from the looks of it i'm gonna say it's a spike, because one of by other phals is sending out a new spike from a node, and the tip of the spike does have a little mitten shape and the new one growing out the side of my phal has a very similar shape.

But i know i'll be wrong :-D lets hope not

I'll keep OB posted.... the suspense is killing me now.

Hi,
I think we are all holding back because the picture doesn't seem to be showing that telltale "mitten".
Could be just the angle.

In the last pic, if you look REALLY closely there is a hint of a line accross the 'nubbin'. To me that looks like the line you get at the node of a spike and I've seen really tiny spikes like this already have a line accross them like that. That's what makes it look like a spike to me.

I see what you mean Rosie, but boy it's pretty blurred. You just might have hit the nail on the head.

As you say it's very blurred and it could easily still be a root, but that's what tipped my bet towards spike.

Hi OB,

I've just taken another couple of pics, but again i only have my phone and the pics are as close as the macro will let me,

The growth now has a little point on it like the "mitten" shape, see what u guys and gals think

It's looking like a spike to me....... i hope

This would be my first spike from new as my other phal has a new spike from a node
