Special plants - buying or growing?

Hello! I know, I always have questions , but I would like to learn about things that you can't find it in the books.

Here, on the forum, we are talking about special plants, good and bad forms of the flowers. Of course, the genes of the plants are important, but how can someone to influence genetic and grow not only healthy plants, but also special ones (of course, the 2 notions are related...). In your opinion, which is the most important factors? Can this depend on the grower?

To be more specific: you buy a seedling, and then, after years and years of caring for that orchid, can you have the best results? Or you must invest in a "select divisions"?

Well if your looking for a good chance to have an outstanding flower and you are buying seedlings. It is best to buy seedlings that are from awarded parents. Many awarded plants have been line bred. They will cost you more but you chances of having very good offspring are increased.

Either buy awarded clones or breed them yourself. Only ways I can think of.
