Nidia, I had the same problem with my first BEAUTIFUL, white double-spiked Phalaenopsis... come to find out later, it was totally choked in Sphag which stayed damp WAY more than I realized (and I only watered it every two weeks, and had plenty of time to dry, but was wrapped in plastic, and began to mold). You should have seen how much moss was packed into this space. Anyway, I managed to save it and it is clinging on for dear life, but rehab is extremely slow... it literally lost all roots but two aerials that I mist several times a day... now it's finally popping new roots out.
My other phals I water with bloom booster when flowering. Just be sure not to overdo it or the salts will build up.
