unhappy phal
Ok, about 9 months ago I moved from Missouri to Minnesota...major shift for my orchids. This one is throwing a fit and letting me know it! Any suggestions? We are in the process of building an orchidarium, but what can I do to help it heal until then? --Carolyn

Looks pretty dried out to me, Those leaves look pretty spent. Increase the water for sure and wait for new growth. It's growing season & it will bounce back just give her time

Carolyn, yes it looks extremely thirsty. I would set this pot in a pot or bowl of water and let it stand in water for 20 minutes, covering. Thereafter, noting spring/summer time is around the corner I would water every 5-7 days. Usually what I do, which works for me is every 10 days I water thoroughly and in between mist the medium. If during this type of watering regimen take a napkin or "the quicker picker upper" and dry the crown of your phal to prevent crown rot. Make sure you have good air circulation. Your phal should bounce back, they are very forgiving....gl

I would repot it in sphagnum moss and keep the moss slightly damp. It is really helpful in such situations.

Did you check the roots. My orchids get that way when they don't have roots but are still hanging on for dear life.

You could put it in a plastic container or an extra large ziploc bag to increase humidity. Some Superthrive might help it recover.

How are the roots inside the media on this guy? Perhaps the roots system died due to underwatering or possibly overwatering. I do see healthy roots on the surface and it should live.
