Hi all,
I'm new here, but I like the forum. I'm getting into growing some orchids and I'm looking for a greenhouse kit that someone would recommend.
I found this online: Cultivator-premier-home-hobby-greenhouse-kit.html
I've recently built a greenhouse like the ones in the pics on your first link. Mine is only 6' x 6' and was a different make (and no where near that cost)... but the same polycarbonate sheets with that double layer corrugated look.
In theory the polycarbonate sheets give good light diffusion which can only be good for orchids, although I don't think they would fully replace the need for a shade cloth.
I'm afraid that as I'm in the UK I can't recomend anything as the make I got was from a UK company, but having put up one of these polycarbonate ones I would say that if nothing else they are easy to handle and I preferred the idea to glass.
Thanks Rosie!
Yes I would be likely using a shade cloth. I like the idea of light diffusion.
I'm wondering where the difference in price would be... do you think that price is too high on the first one? I think shipping is included. hmmm.
Does anyone out there in the US have any of the first one or can give feedback on it? Maybe something similar using the poly-carbonate around (or hopefully below)the same price?
It seems a lot to me, but then prices may be completely different in the US (even taking currancy conversion in to account) and it's also quite a lot bigger than mine.
Mine (6' x 6') was arround £150 although it was on special offer and should have been £300. We had looked at some others and this one seemed the best quality (very similar looking to the one in the first link but smaller, it had the same sort of green frame) while also being the cheapest.
Hopefully someone in the US with more knowledge what of what is available will be able to advise you.
