Please help me to save my orchid Male
Default Please help me to save my orchid

I was given an orchid yesterday, but unfortunately the condition of the Dendrobium is not really good.

I soak them with rooting hormone solution for 15 minutes(as indicated in the application procedure) and put it in a small plastic pot with bark. I prefer to use bark without other mix as it dries the medium fast. I hope anybody here can give me some advice if I can save this orchid. As you can see, there is small leaves comming from 2 bulbs.

Is there any other way to salvage this dwindling plant?

I would appreciate your response. Thank you.

that will be touch and go...it appears to have been left in a low light situation with very little water...so you must trim the roots enuf to get the dead roots off and get it into the small pot, give it no water but humidity high for a week, then water normally about every 5 days....increase the light gradually, be careful about putting it in a high light setting at first...eventually it needs hi light tho, a couple months down the road....the keiki at the top of the old cane needs to put out sufficient roots to pot on its own...hope this helps, gl....

I received an orchid that came from a store. When I repotted it to the right container, I had to trim off all the roots but one. It is in bloom. I'm not sure what to do now, I've never had an orchid.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. You might get more replies if you start a new thread, perhaps in the Beginners forum. Maybe a moderator can move this to a new thread.

We need more information. Do you know what kind of orchid it is? Can you post a photo? Sometimes people need to post 5 messages before they can post photos.

What are the temperatues in your growing area? What kind of light does it get?

It is rare anybody would need to cut off almost all the roots of a new plant. I suggest you not do that again.
