Advice for phalaenopsis Female
Default Advice for phalaenopsis

Hi,
My phalaenopsis here at home has 3 stems with secondary stems (?) coming out of them. The primary and secondary stems all have leaves growing off of them also. There are 4 base leaves, 3 are 8-9 inches long, but the 4th is only about an inch. A friend said I should cut all the stems back to the base leaves when it stops flowering, but I am wondering about the leaves that are growing up higher on the stems. Any suggestions as to what I should do? I'll post a picture as soon as I can.

Don't cut them off at this point. The plant has produced keikis (baby Phals).

Thank you! That sounds like it's a good thing. Is there a book you would recommend I should read so I can take proper care of these beautiful things?

Book:

Moth Orchids: The Complete Guide to ... - Google Books

Advice:

No matter how much you know about Phalaenopsis, sometimes mistakes or certain problems cannot be avoided completely.

S**t just happens sometimes.

Thanks again. I'll get the book. I'm definitely new to this, but they're so beautiful, I had to try. My other phal and my beallara I inherited from someone who seemed to know what they are doing, but I didn't get any pointers on their continued care and feeding. My next quest is to get info on the beallara to see what I need to do to get it to bloom again.

You're awesome, thanks again!

Judy

???

I don't know what to say. I might come off as being mean, so I won't say it.

Did you ask the person how to take care of orchids?

You'll get the answer you seek, there are plenty of people who know what they're doing here.

I know how to grow Oncs and Onc intergenerics, but they're not something I collect heavily. Most of them are just too big, I don't have space for them.

I'm sure you'll find someone who's knowledgeable of Oncs and Onc intergenerics here.

Long story, but a fella I was sharing an office with moved and left the orchids to the other person in the office. She decided she didn't want them and was going to throw them out so I brought them home.
