It's only been a few days and one of them already has lots of white fuzzy mold growing on the crown and roots.

What should I do? Is this a sign that I should give up on that plant?

Thanks!

It might be better to cut your losses and start fresh.
It's a hard thing to learn about orchids that sometimes you just have to let go-unless it's that $$$ orchid that you waited forever to get of course.

If not, try dipping it in a physan or clorox solution again.

All right, thanks for the advice.

I'll redo the Physan and see how it goes. I won't be expecting or hoping it to recover but it will be good experience anyway! We'll see!

Thanks!

Thankfully I haven't had any more problems with the fuzzy mold.

However, both of my phals' root systems have continued to rot. They're both down from around 5-10 2-3" roots to a single root each.

Why would they continue to rot in the sphag and bag? The roots aren't touching anything...

Thanks in advance!
