Default New Paph

So I went to the orchid show in North Carolina this weekend and ended up coming home with my first Paph, which also happens to be my first plant that is not a Noid. So, I'm a bit confused by the name:

(Paph. Supersuk 'Eureka' AM/AOS x Paph. Raisin Pie 'Hsinying') x SIB

So I get that Paph is the genus and that the capital lettered word is the hybrid name and the quoted word is the clonal name, but why is the first part in parenthesis and what is SIB?
And this is a maudiae type paph right?

The plant is in bud, and the vendor said she had just re-potted it. Although I'm not a fan of the pot it's in, I suppose I will wait until next year to re-pot. Also, I can't find anything that says how long it takes for the bud to open. It doesn't seem to have any sign of new growth at the base, and I'm not sure when I should start expecting it to either.

Hello Melody.

A SIB cross is a cross between two siblings. Like two sister plants that came from the same cross.

Now your plants parents is an unregistered hybrid between Paph. Supersuk and Paph. Raisin Pie. Then 2 sister plants, siblings, were crossed together to get yours. I hope I have not over simplified it for you.

As far as your other question about it being a Maudiae type plant. I do not know. But, I am sure that someone that is up on Paph. hybrids will chime in.

I agree with Ted, and yes it is a Maudiae type.

Actually the cross has been names according to Orchidwiz.
It is now named Paph. Hsingying Alien
so your tag could now read Paph. Hsingying Alien x sib
I would wait until it finishes flowering to repot.

I have been joking around about the thing being an Alien...that's just hilarious!

Cool! Thanks for posting a pic! I can't wait for mine to bloom. Any estimate on how long it will take before it will open? a couple weeks? a month? two months?

here's a photo from when I had just got it home a few days ago.

I would give it a couple of weeks. It shouldn't take long from the size of it now.
