Default The best way to start the day.

Still being new at this hobby, I am very unorganized, have not taking anytime to think on how to organize my little lovelies, which by the way are right at the head of my bed, so there the very 1st thing I see in the morning, a perfect way to start my day, but it don't take long for LA traffic to ruin the good mood

I see orchids first thing in the morning too! Half of my collection is crowded in front of the window in my bedroom, and under the several lights I have set up in that area of the room. They make for better decorations than anything else I can think of!

I agree, when I sit up, I have the same routine every morning, I check each and everyone, I touch at least 2 flowers on each plant and I normally have something to say...hahaha

I use to have them in clay pots, but later I took them all out, because it so much easier to know whats going on with the moisture level in viewing through the clear plastic pots, they looked nice in the clay pots, but until I have it packed solid and it comes normally to me when they need water, its better to watch what is going on with them.

Another question, looking at the leafs on these Phals, I got light green to dark green, which is most correct?

light green may mean too much light especially if tending to yellow, but very dark green can mean nowhere wear enough, as was the case with a Phal a friend gave me to rescue. Green tending to a little red especially on backs and edges usually means ok - but depends on what went into the hybrid. If they are growiing well they are probably getrting enough light. don't worry!!

hhmmm!! as you can see from the pic, the ones closer to the window are far more light in color than the further away ones, I wonder if I should start a day to day rotation between the lighter and darker ones, maybe even it out.

it certainly wouldn't hurt to swap them round once a week or so. What aspect does your window face?

the window with the curtain is facing west, I have the curtain there to cut back the force of the sun a little, hopefully subdued enough to prevent sunburn, haven't seen any signs of that yet.
