Default Pictures of roots

Hi everyone,
I finally found a way to upload some pictures. Hope this website works (please forgive me if it doesn't). firsttimerorchids.snapfish.com/snapfish

Now for my 2 questions.
1. Is it okay that my new roots have turned a bit brown on the tip and white at the stem? They are of course green in the middle section.
2. I hope you can make out the picture of these new roots that are growing higher up on the stem (much higher than bark line) ...is this okay? or should I raise the bark level...if I do then the bottom of the psuedo bulbs will be covered. I think this is a really dumb question now that I'm typing it out....

I hope you can understand what I mean.
Thanks
FT

1. they are alive but not in the best shape. The root tips should be green if they are healthy. But the roots are alive and they can branch off, with new roots with green tips.

2.I can't see the picture. Click on the yellow icon that looks like a picture of a grey mountain, and insert the URL of the picture

2. It is ok that the roots are growing above the bark level. Many of my orchids do that, and it is completely healthy. They are sending aerial roots.

I want to add that you can plant it deeper or increase the bark level if you wish. That should not harm the plant. Some orchids like phals will become very tall with age and sometimes I do have to plant them lower

I hope that you can figure out how to post photos soon

Is this a phal we are talking about?....
back to question number one.
If it is a phal then they may have a red root tip, depending on the plant. That is completely fine. It's a redish brown. These are healthy roots.

It's my potinara red crab 'uncle wang'. These are brand new roots that started only a week or so ago. Yesterday I sprayed some horticultural oil on the plant because I wanted to be sure that the scales from my phals didn't cross over.. I was dumb and didn't separate my new potinara....anyway, today I noticed that all of my 4 new roots have browning starting on tips...did I mess up?

I can't get my pictures to upload to the internet for sharing. They are in my documents on my computer. Usually I don't have a problem when they are in an email, but I've never created them with a url ....can someone help me with this?
thanks

I think the roots had a burn, and they are alive and they will send out new branches of healty roots. i wouldn't worry too much, these plants can handle a lot

Thank you so much...it's disappointing when you see new roots and then they take an about turn....One day I'm thrilled, the next I feel like I've screwed up....I haven't watered them 1 week today...It's a little moist down under so I'm not going to water yet. But, maybe I should just spray these new roots daily? what do you think Smartie?
