Orchid Lover = Plant Lover.
I should have realized that.

I know what you mean, perhaps my explanation was not great. When I first saw the plant the leaves were large and lank as if under-watered... That's what I thought until I look in the pot for the first time, and saw the root structure and standing water... It had been fed, very well so to speak (think quite a bit more than weakly weekly), but also left in standing water I'm guessing this caused the leaves to become somewhat over-sized. As the roots became manky and could no longer provide the plant with enough water/nutrients to sustain the bulk of the leaves, I'm guessing this is what caused the leaves to become lank and leathery. Seen similar in other plants, they grow weird if you over water and over feed in combination. I'm guessing that happened here (But I'm No Scientist!).
Hope that makes more sense though.
I'm sure someone out there may be able to explain what was going on exactly

At first I had it in the west facing bathroom windowsill, but alas though the humidity did seem to encourage roots from the plant the light from the window was still too strong for it so I had to move it again. It had a bit of purple tinge to begin with and some burn on the edges of the leaves, so it had already suffered enough. The New Leaf growth is fine though and really healthy looking.
Now I have it in a room with a south facing window, but I did not place it on the windowsill! Rather I placed it at the back of the small room so that it does not get the harsh direct sun-light. It seems to like it there, so I moved the others there too (all without blooms or spikes at moment but this is my first year
) and now they are happy little family of mutants.
I now keep Humidity up with a combination of gravel trays, fine
misting and an indoor water fountain that I forgot I had.
Because I had acquired four Noid Phals, I experimented by placing each in different spots to see which place was the best. Where I have them now works for them and me. All are starting to get or have that lush green colour to them and are not suffering from or getting sun-burn. When they spike and flower
, they will be moved to the spot in the living room which I am sorting for them so they can provide more of a display, but this spot also has similar lighting.
