the first photo is the correct presentation for this flower ... dorsal sepal is at the top, broad lip is at the bottom.
I love the color and the splash on the lip!
Enjoy your plant!

check out the new AOS Orchids magazine ...cover photo is Milt. Lennart Karl Gottling 'Black Ruby' AM/AOS (Timberline x Pearl Ono) grown by Ivan Komoda. In my book, Ivan is an expert grower / hybridizer of 'Pansy' orchids.

Looks like your plant is thriving! keep doing what you're doing and the next season's flowers should be great!

I was curious about that 1st pic, the new shoot is coming up through that small space between old leafs while the other 2 the old leafs split giving way to the new growth, are both ways normal? and I guess this Milt only flowers once a year?

Milt. flowers on new (pseudobulbs) growth only. It is possible that what is shown in first photo is a new inflorescence (spikes usually emerge at bottom of pseudobulb) and this is simply a late bloomer. If indeed a new flower spike, you'll see buds forming at the tip of this new growth. Time will tell.
