Thanks for the suggestions so far! :)
Will be having a good look at some images first... Mmmm Pretty!
Well that me for the next half hour or so, better make a coffee.

:hmm
Suppose I am comfortable with them. My first was a Gift for my anniversary, and Phal derivatives are fairly easy to come by for little outlay in money.
I have looked at other types, but haven't the courage to take any on just yet.
Plus I already know that the Phal flowers are brilliant for pressing!
....Or you could just call me strange. I wont be offended. ;)

pressing!! gasp!!! i would never pick the flower from my phal or any other for that matter and press them!! but thats just me

 Never said I picked them.
If you let them fall naturally and catch them early enough, then they will press really well.
I don't think they would be as easy to press should I pick them at their prime so to speak

You'll have to use lots of will power - there are so many lovely Phals around at the moment! I find it so much easier to resist now I have some species but it's still tempting!!

So true! Spotted a couple of nice Phals the other day in town, it was so difficult to walk away.
Not long till Tatton now though! :cheer:

Yes, it can be very difficult sometimes just to walk away.

Nic100 05-19-2010 01:21 PM

 yep, sometimes dragging is involved.
After about 9 months I now have seven plants +1 unexpected Dend Keiki. Still want more! Probably always will ;)

Nic100, glad to hear I'm not the only one who's excited. Literally counting down the days now.

Yep! And when you are sure that you have completely run out of room. You can always make room for another.

Nic100 05-19-2010 04:59 PM

Ha! That's my excuse for not buying more but even while I'm telling myself that I'm thinking about the furniture I can get rid of in the spare room to make way for more!

Just like Christmas, so excited I can see myself waking up on the Saturday even without an alarm... Or I'll just stay up all night in anticipation ;)
I think I may be driving Hubby up the wall at the moment, but saying that he's been cheering me up when I've been down simply by saying "Tatton soon!" and "Not long Now till the Orchid Show!" result = grin like the Cheshire Cat.

So... not only am I as excited as a sprog during silly season about going to the Tatton Show, but I also spoke with Peter White yesterday. He will be bringing a Phal equestris alba for me to Tatton, and he will also be making enquiries with regards to Phal bastianii for me too. If he can get a bastianii for me before the Show he will be bring it to Tatton for me. If not he will be taking my details and getting back to me when he can get one in stock.

RosieC you were right, Peter White seems like such a nice bloke over the phone and all to willing to help!

Running out of space = Spacial Considerations.
~"If I just move that chair over there, move that ornament left a bit... actually no... sell that ornament... Chuck this... Recycle that... Now let's see what else can I do?"~ ;)
There's always room for one more!

Well I'm happily over the moon! 15 days to Tatton!
