Burnham Nursary (down in Devon) sells Mini Mark for arround £25. I think they will be going to Tatton as they do a lot of the shows so maybe they will take some.

I bought one from them back in March and a spike has been growing very fast on it. They said they usually have them in flower, but I was unlucky with my timeing. I don't care because this spike is shooting up.

Mini Mark is still on the list, and will remain so till I get one. :D

Was eying the Mini Mark up on the Burnham website... Though you add a £10 p&p charge on top (believe to the overall charge and not the individual plants, though I could be wrong there). It's a fair enough charge, but when you can only afford one plant at the time and are on a strict budget.... :(

Anyway :D

Burnham Nursery will be there as well as a few others.
This Link has a list of Vendors that will be there (about half way down).
Tatton Park Flower Show - orchids for sale

Thanks Guys! for getting back to me on this. Seems like I may come home with two cracking specimens... If I'm lucky!
(Sat here like some sort of excited child waiting for Christmas)

Hi, Triffid,

I have purchased from both David Stead and Ray Creek, both sell healthy plants with good after care instructions from David Stead. Landsides Alpines was at harrogate and specialise in hardy outdoor orchids like Cypripedium.

I suggest you contact the vendors by their websites and ask for the specific plants and see if they have them ready for Tatton, if they are quoting a good price, get them to bring a plant along with your name on it so that you don't go home disappointed. :) But also allow yourself some "impulse money" because seeing them in the flesh, so to speak, takes away your reason and you will want to buy more!!

BTW, I have not been to this show, but the RHS Tatton show. Unfortunately it's exam time in this household for my daughter and my son so I won't be going this year.

Happy shopping

I've bought from David Stead as well and was very pleased.

Peter White I have bought accessories from (Orchid Accessories is also him) and from talking to him on the phone I was very impressed by his knowledge so I would be quite happy to buy orchids from him as well.

Triffid, when are you going to Tatton? I'm thinking I want to go on the Saturday but not certain yet.

Cheers for the tip Hedge!
And I'll be sure to try and take "Impulse Money" too.

Rosie, I'll be going down on the Saturday (Not soon enough)

Seems like I have acquired a nice little list of recommended vendors.
Thank You Rosie and Hedge!.... Rosie Hedge.... ... sorry!

I think i should just explain that in my case, although I use the Alan Parsons quote, Hedge is actually short for hedgehog because my little sister mispronounced my name when small - but I am very fond of rosy hedgerows

How Sweet! My niece used to mispronounce her uncles name, but I wont say what with as it was a bit rude.... Especially for a toddler... but funny.

I had the something similar and used to get called Hedgehog when I was young too. Though it came about after the Maternity Nurses decided to call it me. Was born with a full head of spiky hair.

Hedgehogs are wonderful little creatures though! Nice to know where you got your online ID from :D and I promise not to call you as Mrs Tiggy Winkle.

PS wishing you all Good luck for the kids exams! (forgot to say that last time round)

What about Rosy Hedgehogs? ;)

So when did the Hedgehog become a Triffid?

Hedgehog stuck with me because I also grow cacti and collected (note the past tense ) hedgehogs made of anything - especially liked the crystal one a boyfriend gave me for my 21st. I still have it (the hedgehog, not the boyfriend)

O, and btw we have hijacked your thread!!

I became Triffid when I joined this site, but it comes from my husband referring to me as "The Queen of the Triffids" and "Triffid Queen"... My plants as you can probably work out are referred to as the Triffids. Hubby did suggest me using Queen Triffid when I was registering, but I felt that was just a bit presumptuous of me ;) After all I'm Orchids are still new for me.

That last sentence really made me chuckle!
My mum on occasion still refers to me as "her little Hedgehog". She also used to collect little hedgehog figurines and likes her Cacti

One place I have gotten GREAT Phals from is Pine Ridge Orchids Pine Ridge Orchids - Home Page
Terry grows for breeder HP among others. His plants are Monsters, for $15. Add shipping - around $6 for me, and you have a good deal. His Paphs are amazing too. I have a Ho Chi Minh from him that came with 9 growths and is now blooming with 3 spikes 2 flowers each. It's a sight!
