Save rotted Phal with water culture? Female
Default Save rotted Phal with water culture?

I now have two rescue phals that came rotted except for aerial roots, they've both been in bags with a wet paper towel on a seedling heater while I figure out what to do with them.

Would putting them in water for a while help them out? I'm not saying long term, but at least until some new root nubs start (so I'd be repotting when new roots are starting, which I heard is best?)

I've rescued numerous phals with water culture which I repot in s/h. I don't know if you can transplant them to organic media due to the root acclaimation from water to organic media.

Thanks Joann. Should I be doing anything special with the water? Change it everyday? Would it hurt to put a little superthrive in?
I'm planning to keep it in only until it just begins to sprout roots.

Change the water weekly. If you add Superthrive, add per the instructions...something like a drop or two per gallon of water.
There are a lot of posts regarding water culture here on the OB, just do a search and you'll get a ton of info.

Awesome.
I did do a search, but still wasn't quite confident.
Thanks for your help!
