I picked up this plant from an orchid sale from a local orchid club. That was the name on the tag. Do you think it may be different?

I dug around the plant yesterday and noticed the roots are not all that good looking-which may be why the pseudobulbs are all shriveled. I cut back some of the dead roots, and trimmed up some dry ends to what looks like some good tissue. Sprinkled some cinnamon on the wounds and have it just sitting out in the open. I have some newly soaked bark I was going to place it in-is this a good idea considering the root damage? Should I wait on the new media and instead let the roots dry out a bit before repotting? I read about sphagnbag-would that help in this case? Thanks so much!

I decided to get myself a Cymbidium-it was on sale at OSH. This is a HUGE one-lots of backbulbs, new growth, and two spikes. After hearing how they grow rather well in the Bay Area, I couldn't resist! I posted some photos in my album (still haven't figured out how to post within the forum).

I'm another bay area grower - West San Jose. Cyms do great here - just don't forget to water them in summer! If it's brutally hot, make sure they get some shade - especially from mid-day sun. And don't forget to fertilize, especiallly in spring and summer.

As for posting pix in your posts - you can either upload using the picture button above the text box, or from your gallery there should be a link below your pic that can be copy and pasted into your post.

You need to "go Advanced" to be able to manage your attachments (photo files) using the button below the composition box. You may need to re size your pictures, but they will then appear as thumb nails for people to open in your posts. Hope that helps

Thanks for all the tips guys! I'm giving the cym a bit of time to acclimate before it's first watering/soak, and fertilizer.

I moved my Den. into some brighter light-which it seems to enjoy, and letting it totally dry out before soaking as well.
