I wondered about that. Basically it's just the temp I have in my house so I might just wait until the weather starts warming up. The humidity will also go up naturally once the central heating is switched off.

I had understood that Ludisia needed quite low light. Currently it is midway between an east and west window 5m apart. At this time of year the light is starting to get brighter anyway but I could move it if it would be better.

Stefano, I remember thinking how I could not live in the heat you've spoken about your apartment being

When I'm in the house the thermostat is set to 19.5C and turns on at 19C and off at 20C. The living room gets a bit warmer. I don't find this too cold, I always have a sweater in the winter but only the one. It gets down to about 15C at night and when the heating is not on when we are out.

My Phals always go dormant so I think the same must be true of this Ludisia, I've not really had it long enough to see how it behaves in the summer.

I do have one room in the house which feels VERY cold. I am keeping it at between 2C and 15C (depending on the weather outside). That room is not heated and all the window vents are open. I keep a Masdie in there which is meant to reach a low of 5C but should not be frosted. I've only just built a greenhouse at the weekend and still do not have a heater to keep it above freezing in there, so I've been having to try and keep this Masdie cool in the house instead.

Well in my bedroom i have very limited control. I can turn heat on or off. the handle does not really regulate it. In NYC they say the window is the thermostat. It averages to 25 C but can go down to 15 or up to 32 C [close to the radiator - where i put a shelf sitting on some bricks on top of it and I keep my Adeniums / cactuses etc].
In the winter I have to water often. It gets dry too.

Well past few days it has been mild I keep the heat off and the window open all the time.
I think being native of Burma/ Indonesia 15 C may be too cold for the Ludisia to be active.
Probably you need 25 to 30 C and humidity.
I would keep it close to a light to keep it warmer and use some clear pot upside down on top of the pot to keep humidity high.

I have seen them in terrariums.

low light outdoors sometimes can mean bright light indoors...

I might try it closer to the window, especially as at this time of year light levels are low anyway.

I've heard that the leaves go pale on these if the light is too high so I will see what happens.
