I was at an orchid show on the weekend and one of my purchases had the following identification tag:
Blc. Oconce x Nodosa
What type of orchid did I buy, and what are some recommendations for growing conditions? I was able to find something about the meaning of Blc, but not much.
Thanks. I have it in a west-facing window on top of a gravel-filled tray for humidity (it's a dry room).
The roots are growing all over and some have wrapped around the pot; would it be a good idea to repot or leave it as-is? Some of the roots are brittle, so I could probably trim some off.
Check your tag again. There is no Blc. Oconce. I think you have Blc. Oconee x B. nodosa. That makes it Blc. Memoria Joel Wheeler. You should eaisly be able to find cultural instructions for Brassavola nodosa, and those should work for your hybrid.
Could very well be. I thought it might have been an 'e' instead of a 'c', but couldn't quite tell. There's no 'B' in front of Nodosa, but that's easy enough to forget.
