Orchid position when i repot
Default Orchid position when i repot

Hi there,

Here is the latest picture of my orchid that i'm gonna repot, the medium looks ok in the pic but it has really broke down under the top layer.

My question is my phal has taken a more flat on the side position over time and is quite heavy and seem to like to rest on the side of the pot, when i repot her should i try to prop it up more or leave it in the position it's in now?

Here is the mix i'm gonna be using, i hope this is ok, it's medium and small grade douglas fir bark, sponge rock, and foam.

Thanku once again guys, i seem to be bombarding the board today :-)

Personally I'd leave it. I noticed that it's in a pot within another pot. Make sure that it drains very well or your lovely specimen will be a goner.

Yeah i've had her since last easter, i always use tepid water and put the plastic air pot in the sink and run the water through and let it all drain away for about 15 mins, i have some orchid focus bloom feed now so i hope she will like it :-)

Phals don't grow upright in the wild, so of course they're going to lean towards one side of the pot like what yours is doing.

What you're seeing is the natural growth orientation of a Phalaenopsis.

No matter how much you try to prop this guy up, it'll keep doing the same thing.
