Okay, I feel like the guy walking into a bar for the first time. Everyone else looks at you like you don't belong, and you order your first beer by saying "I'll have a beer".

The Bartender glances over his shoulder at the 120 varieties on tap and then stares you down like a moron.

That said.

I bought my wife 2 orchid plants for Valentine's Day and our Anniversary (both about 1 week apart).

One was delivered large and blooming, a truly beautiful plant.

The OTHER however, was small and budding, with a few open buds. Also, gorgeous. We sat and stared at these things for about an hour, just entranced by the delicate beauty. ( I see the potential for addicion)

Now, about 2 weeks later, the big one is hale and hearty, and looking good.

The small one, however dropped a couple of buds, and now has a leaf turing brown.

Please advise on what potential problems with the small may be and what I can look into.

I am not looking for you to solve my problems, but some diagnostic hints in the right direction would be nice! ;-)

Thanks!

Bryan

Hi Bryan and welcome to OB. We all started out with one or two orchids. This is the best place to learn more about growing and we will also tempt you with great pictures in our galleries so you may as well start a "Wish List" Maybe a "His & Hers".

I'm not even going to guess what type of orchids you have. If there are plastic name tags on them that will be big help. If you post pictures that will also help troubleshoot and give us some more information as to where they are growing, what type of potting medium (regular plants are in soil) they are in and what kind of pot. Also how wet/dry they are and how often you are watering them.
