Sitting in water causes root rot.
Crown rot is from letting water stand in the crown of the leaves- it's generally best to just pour water through the medium, not on top of the orchid- or make sure to pour/blow the water out.

Will I did toss it, what I thought was weird was it didn't turn brown and mushy, it was still light green colored, I used the sphag n bag trick, just put a wet piece of sphag n a bag, the crown never actually sat in water.

I have a feeling this wasn't what you did, but just in case, make sure the sphag isn't touching the plant or roots if it's sopping wet. I've had orchids continue to rot when I've done that.

I had the sphag in a corner of the bag and hanged it, with the 1 leaf still on the crown, it was to big for the plant to slip far enough inside the bag for the crown to touch the sphag,

That's what I say Tropicgirl, by the way! how was your Easter? It's all part of the hobby, I always been the type to take in plants and flowers that others has giving up on for dead, I had revived just as many as I had lost. I had adopted this plant once, I caught the owner just as the dumped it, so I took it out of the garbage and brought it home, after 2 years this thing started getting these flowers, they were small, but grew in a bunch of about 10 to 15 flowers and it would have about 10 of these bunches, the thing that made never forget this plant was its very very strong aroma, when it flowered its scent which was very pleasent filled the entire house, for the life of me I can not remember what it was called, I loved that plant, I gave it to my mother who also loved it

Hi Jeffery! My Easter was great! I spent most of the day outside repotting some plants and rearranging to make room for more. How about yours? Did the Easter bunny bring you anything?

It's amazing how many people think orchids are "throw away" plants! If you remember what kind of orchid that was with the wonderful fragrance let me know. It sounds fabulous!

Yep, I think I did get this from one of your threads!

How was your Easter? Did the bunny bring you any new orchids?

I like that tune, make room for more, I been thinking of making room for another myself

I had a nice Easter also Tropicgirl, the bunny sure did bring me something, brought me $187. I went to Laughlin, Nevada for the weekend and on my last bet, I stuck a buck in a machine and won $187, thats the most I ever walked out of a casino and went home with

This wasen't a orchid Tropicgirl, it was a hanging plant, it was kind of plant that had vines and when new vines came out, they attached themselves to the ceiling with hair like fibers, never in my life have I ever smelled such a powerful aroma and when you got near the plant in full bloom, the scent was so strong it almost made you sick, but in other rooms it sure smelled nice.
