Hi everyone, quick question, when you add fertiliser to the water do you a) add amount needed to water and just water it and let the water run through the pot and that its or B) add amount needed to water and soak the pot in the water for a few minutes.
???
What’s the best method if there is a best method?
Many people do not like to soak the pots because it "could" spread disease from one plant to another, but I think you know when you have a bad plant and the risk is not high.
Soaking those the most effective job.
Watering with the fertilizer running through the pot is a common and still effective method. If you have any fear of spreading disease chose this method.
Then if your collection is very big the commercial method is to spray the plant and potting medium with the fertilizer in a garden sprayer. You occasionally miss plants when spraying a large area, but this works well if you fertilize regularly.
I used to soak but now I just pour it through for convenience. I found when soaking the orchid, the bark inside would start to float up and out of the pot. I had to push it back in and felt this could potentially upset the orchids' roots.
