Phal losing leaves but flowering
Hi, I'm in Hawaii and have been growing orchids for a few years now. I have different types and have several phals. All my phals are flowering right now (day temp 70s, night temp mid 50s to 60s). They get morning sun then shade the rest of the day. They also get a nice breeze. I notice most of my phals' leaves are green with a hint of red or burgundy throughout. I've never seen that color on them before. This one phal has been steadily losing leaves over time. It began flowering several weeks ago and has large, beautiful purple flowers. Only 1 leaf remains and I don't see another leaf sprouting. I'm concerned that without enough leaves it will die. #1 should I cut off the flowers to save the plant #2 is the leaf coloring an indicator of something I need to fix to start getting more leaves. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING ME. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO LOSE THIS BEAUTIFUL PLANT.

How are the roots on the one that is loosing it's leaves? Many phals do have pigments on the under side of the leaves but if it is occuring on the topside you might need to reduce the light level a bit.

The red is a pigment it uses to protect from high light levels. Perhaps reduce the light intensity a bit but maintain the time length they spend in it.
One remaining leaf could mean the plant has been overwatered and has root-rot. Lift it out and check, it shouldn't harm it.

Would you mind posting a picture of the plant, showing its environment? That would assist us greatly. Thanks!
