I still think the Ice method works. Well actually I know it does. I been growing 2 of them for a couple months and they are doing well, 1 even has a spike. Why it works. It doesn't s saturate the mix and keep it wet longer then need be but still allowing enough time for the roots to take up the water and nutrients. I have gone as far as making cubes with a fertilizer in it. It's also recommended by a well respected grower in Homestead. Say what you like but it's working for me.
Some things work for some and not at all for others.
Orchids, ie PHALS, + COLD ice cubes = NO WORKY....
Phals are warm temp orchids and don't fair well with cooler temps and they will easily shock if the ice gets to close to the plant or root system...
Then can you tell why the one's I have changed to this method is doing better then when I was watering in a more traditional way? Look Ice melts within 5 or 15 mins depending on how hot it is. Not enough time to do
ANY damage but long enough to do the plant good. By all means grow your plant as you like. Mine now use ICE.
