Lighting question
Question Lighting question

Trying to build a new lighting source for our orchidarium. Found a great source of fluorescent kits, BUT they are for aquariums and don't sell lamps warmer than 5500K. For the space we have, their 96W kits/lamps would fit the best. Problem: warm lamps for this kit are very hard to find.

Hence, 1st question:
Does anyone know of a distributor of warm lamps with the following specs: GY10q base, 34.1" long, 96W?

Second question. My wife is saying that all grow lights are either 3000K or 6400K, so 5500K does not cut it. I'm telling her that if she combines a 3000K and a 6400K, the resulting light would be pretty much the same as from a pair of 5500K's. Who is right? Is there a detriment to using 5500K's in an orchidarium?

Third question is about the amount of lighting. We have a 2'x2'x4' orchidarium. The 96W lamps give out 9000 lumens each; the reflector is very efficient. Is a pair of these lamps sufficient? The owner of the lighting kit site says yes -- but, like I said, he is an aquarium guy.

Any advice would be appreciated!!!

I just got a catalog from Fish & Pond Supplies | Aquarium & Garden Pond Specialists. They have 6500K lamps in various sizes. But since I don;t know what type of bulb you have it's hard to say they have it.
