I have a hand me down phalenopsis (came from my step-dad's mom) - she was an orchid enthusist in her day.

Finally got this guy to bloom. I just don't know what color it will be, because it hasn't bloomed in at least 7 years, or at least not in our care.

Part of the flowering stalk has some purple on it. Is there any way you can predict this?

Kinda exciting. I feel like a botanist with a strange specimen.

How exciting!!

I hope it's worth the wait.

In my experience the more purplish tint the plant has, the more likely is will be a pink flower but I have a couple that defy that logic.

I'm sure there will be others with more input on this.
