I also recommend Piping Rock Orchids. Glenn is one of my favorite venders.

I would go with either or of the two sources but just in case you don't know Phrag kovachii is suppossed to be a very hard plant to grow. If no experience with Phrags or slippers in general I would start with something easier.

I agree. Not only are they trickier, they are very expensive and slow growing!

Yes they can be very expensive. I know where to get seedlings for cheaper, though I won't publicly announce where... but I did mention TWO sources before (hint, hint). OL is the only place I know of where you can get mature plants though. If you are so desperate to see blooms NOW that you'll pay $1000 or whatever it is they cost, then you have your opportunity right there.

That is too much. $250 to $1,000 for one plant? I would rather wait until they're more widely available, even if I'm 80 by the time it happens.
I'm assuming Phrag. manzurii is just as expensive and tough to find, too.

Phrag manzurii is not on the market yet as far as I know... I haven't heard of anyone who is selling it. I'm very excited about it though!
But this high price craziness happens every time a new species is discovered. In the 80s this was happening with Phrag besseae. After a while, they get more common, and the prices go down.
