Well I find them in nature and they just survived below freezing temps. for around 4 or 5 hours. But if I were to try and grow one I wouldn't let it get below 50 F.

They're fairly hardy temperature-wise, as flhiker says they can survive briefly at freezing temps. I wouldn't let them get below 10 degs Celsius at night, this is the lowest i've had them go to personally.

Default Ghost Orchid of Corkscrew Swamp blooms 3 mo. early

The ghost orchid of Corkscrew Swamp made famous in D.K.Christi's novel, GHOST ORCHID, has surprised us all by its blooming March 26, 2010! It's in its place, high in the cypress canopy, watching the gazers below. I can't help but think it's smiling at its cleverness to bloom so early and compete with the British ghost orchid thought extinct but recently showing itself in wooded areas. Not to let the Brits get all the glory, our very own ghost is spinning its magic while the readers of GHOST ORCHID walk the boardwalk and experience the characters' emotions on their mysterious quest. Buying the book at the Corkscrew gift shop supports their programs. A map that directs readers to the boardwalk viewing spots from the novel can be requested from dkchristi@yahoo.com. Enjoy the early blooming, in time for Mother's Day - a theme from GHOST ORCHID - is a mother's love eternal? It seems our ghost orchid is blooming for us again - wow!
