Phalaenopsis Root fungus
Unhappy Phalaenopsis Root fungus

I'm new to orchids, bought several recently from supermarkets; all appear to be in good health but one has white fluffy fungus on top of the growing medium (bark) which vanishes when it is dry but reappears with watering. Some of the upper roots also have this fungus on them and are withered and brown, some are green but with some fungus on them.
I have decided to isolate it, repot and trim the bad roots but should I use a fungicide and if so which one-The only one which I could find is for trees and roses-is it suitable?

Any advice please, and how likely is it to spread to my other plants (lack of space means that isolating means moving three feet away unfortuately)?

It sounds like you have done the right thing to isolate it, remove the bad roots and repot. Keep it isolated until you know you have got rid of it.

It would be better if you could isolate it futher, fungas can have spores which can spread.

I think you may need to use some sort of fungicide but I don't know what you can buy there (I don't even know what I can buy here in the UK as I've never had to use it). A lot of people on OB are from the USA and so the brands they mention are not available in Europe. Camille & Nicole are from the Netherlands and may have more idea what you can buy there.

Ground cinnamon is a natural way to help get rid of fungus as well. Just put some powder on the affected areas.
