Top petal folds back, is this a watering problem?
Hello, I haev a problem with the top, or "third" petal on the flower on two of my phalaenopsis plants folding back. The petals are otherwise fairly soft and floppy. I've had them for some time and this is a change to the plant without me doing anything different with them. I wonder if it's watering problem. I would appreciate any tips on what thsi might be. Thanks!

Hi, welcome to Orchid Board!
Can you post a picture of your Phal.? It might help us diagnose the problem if we could actually see it.

I've had that when the blooms were about the wither. Could that be the case?

sounds like the flowers are ageing....it could be a watering problem if you arent supplying enuf water....hard to say without visual evidence....post some more so you can put up a picture! welcome to the board!

I donŽt think it is ordinary wither, it is a bit too early, and it happens to all the blooms at the same time.. IŽll see if I can get a picture. Thanks.

Sometimes mine open and flip backwards then decide to straighten up after a couple of days - usually without my changing anything. Almost like a peloric in reverse. I have no idea why

Gunilla,
This used to be a common problem with many of the older Phal. hybrids, stemming back to weaker parents and certain species influence. It unfortunately still shows up today but in fewer numbers. Quality, modern day hybridizers are working to avoid this by better breeding.
