I've been poking around andy's orchids, and found these Pleurothalliis. I really like them and think they'd be great additions to a viv. However, they are already mounted. Do I build a viv around the sticks I'm given or is it easy to transfer the mount???? If it's easy, how do I go about doing that?
Make sure the roots are thoroughly wet, and use a small flat edged screwdriver (like a screwdriver used for the screws of glasses small) to pry the roots loose from the wood. You must be careful and work slowly.
I just submerge the whole plant mount underneathe water for about a hour. then take a small screwdriver and just pry up the wood or bark that the root is attached to. this way you do no damage to the roots. Plus the wood will eventually will dry out and fall off the root. Ive done this to many plants on sticks, cork bark, concrete block etc.
