Dens split from same pot, one yellowed, one thriving Female
Default

Well, I finally went to the Library and got the Orchid book recommended on another thread (Cullen? I think? I don't have it next to me). It had a great breakdown of different medium to use, properties it had and why to use it. I also watched the guy on Martha Stewart pot up some orchids.

I took the cruddy looking one, and the largest set of bulbs (?) was mushy. I cut it off figuring no good would come of mush. The other pseudobulbs were nice and firm, so I took some of the bark (couldn't have been breaking down yet, brand new) it had been potted in, mixed in some charcoal and tree fern fiber I had on hand, and put it TIGHTLY in the pot. Did the same for the other den, too. We'll see if that helps or hurts them!
