Hi. I just bought two orchids, and I was curious about pollination. Orchid flowers and structures seem to really vary with species.

I think I just removed the beginning of a seed pod of a Laelia furfuracea. Maybe there is more literature out there in botany books on how to do this.

Has anyone here done this?

You might try googling up pollination of orchids. Here is a link from the North Jersey Orchid Society for starters. You may also want to check out the propagation forum on this site. Lots of info there.

???

Seed pods are not that easily removed unless they were not viable.

Can you post a picture of what you removed?

YouTube has some videos. Catts, Laelias, Phals, Dens, and Vandas have similar enough structures that you won't have problems figuring it out.

I posted a link to these here on the OB a long time ago. If you do a search you may be able to find them.

Other genera of orchids are much different...

If you're asking about Paphs, Gore's Conservatory has a tutorial.
