Default Cymbidium Flowering

A second novice question. This is about getting cymbidiums to flower in Niagara Falls, Ontario. I have had no success. I left them outside until the end of October where they grew well- perhaps brought in too soon? Now inside and with central heating conditions are counter productive to spiking? Next year I should leave them outside for longer and when I bring them indoors my strategy should be? The 2 flowering phalas I have share the same stand in an eastern facing window. Is this an example of what is good for the goose isn't good for the gander?

Most standard Cymbidiums love cool temperatures during winter. You probably brought them indoors at the right time. Move them to the coolest corner of your greenhouse or growing space. Good luck!

Other possibilities - cyms require a good deal of light. I don't know how much yours get while outdoors, but it could be they need more.

Cyms are also 'heavy feeders' - what's your fertilizing regimine? I still generally get blooms even if the cyms haven't been fertilized much - but don't get many.

I believe I have read that they need maybe 2 weeks or so of night time temps 50 F or less. They can take down to freezing for short periods (a few hours). Spikes and buds should be protected from frost or freezing however.

I hope this helps - I am sure others will chime in with more suggestions
