Phaiocalanthe is the correct spelling if you're having a hard time finding info on the net.

Correct spelling:

Phaiocalanthe

Incorrect spelling:

Phalocalanthe

Phaiocalanthe = Phaius x Calanthe (it's an intergeneric hybrid)

Usually both genus of plants start going deciduous during the fall.

Hi Lily! Welcome to OrchidBoard

I am not an expert on phcals (phaiocalanthe), tho do have one, only for a few months tho. Is growing well and has a few spikes, so I guess it's happy.

I grow mine in moderate light, constantly moist. I believe they are true terrestrials. Hopefully someone can advise as to media for potting. (not sure what mine is potted in lol)
Intermediate to warm temps, I think.

I am sure someone with a bit more experience/knowledge with this type will chime in.

I grow them in sphagnum or S/H culture, in a fair amount of shade, and have not experienced them being deciduous. This is my first foray into the intergenerics, but my Phaius tankervilleae plants don't take a winter rest in S/H.
