Lucky you...

Here's the info. This is not commonly sold in the US.

IOSPE PHOTOS

It'd be cool if you could let us know about the progress of this plant.

Oh...

Look at that, maybe I have heard of it...

It went by a different name a while back.

Encyclia brassavolae.

Imagine that.

I'd still consider it somewhat of a rarity in the US trade, even though it can be found if you know where to look (and know what the old name is, apparently).

People should chime in soon...

Still, nice plant!

I was given a mature division a few months ago.

I have it potted in PrimeAgra (LECA) contained in an EcoWeb pot, so it gets LOTS of air to the root system.

It is sitting on the bench next to Anacheilium (Encyclia, Prosthechea) cochleatum - which grows and blooms it's head off - and appears to be doing well. Think "shaded, cattleya conditions".

I lied.

I was watering today and saw it was in chopped up EcoWeb in a plastic pot - still lots of air flow.

The smartest time is when it is forming a new growth with the accompanying new roots.
