Sometimes you have to wait for them to get pot bound as well as cooler nights - I have one that flowered sequentially down a stem for a total of twenty three flowers over eighteen months and when it finished I repotted it. I was generous with the pot size as I thought it deserved a rest.

It's taken another eighteen months to decide to spike again - mostly because the new pot allowed it to do some serious root and leaf growing. If this plant was not in flower when you bought it then this could be a reason why your growth is good but no spikes yet. Like all things patience is required!

My phals are not in spike yet. Now its getting a bit colder, i have my window closed in the daytime when i am out, but open it at night (just a little so no draft).

I like to sleep in a cold room and snuggle up in my duvet. so i hope the drop in temp at night will help them spike fairly soon!

Does anybody know if dends like the drop in temp too? I'm waiting for them to spike aswell.... ah the joys of this waiting game...

Sammy,
I have a Den phal type (NOID) which is spiking now- I live in South London too so have the same weather as you
My Phals are not spiking though, which I suspect is because mainly they have just finished flowering. After keeping blooming for 8 months in one case, I think I'll give them some more time before they produce more! But you never know with these things... I have an Epicat plicaboa Dancing Queen which seems to have the beginning of a spike in its latest pbulb too- but I think this orchid is a little on the seasonally confused spectrum.
