I like basic clay pots -
i see the advantage of plastic.
glazed is a waste of $$$ in my opinion.

This is a very good point. If you are using plastic, or even clay pots, when in bloom, you can just place them inside a larger glazed pot for display.

Think of it this way, you have 70 or so orchids, are you going to buy glazed orchid pots for all of them? Now if your collection was limited to let's say 15 or less plants, then I can see getting the glazed pots (for inside growing).

I grow strictly outside. They are either in terracotta pots, wooden baskets, or mounted. I don't even bring them in when they bloom. I just prefer to go outside often and wallow in their glory.

Now that wgama has given me the bug, I just might put some of the old McCoy pots I have to use.

Kudos wgama!!

i got like 20 chids, and only to glazed pots - i only use them for display - glazed pots cost a lot here and i want like a zillion kids more - so i learned to live with those plastic ones - they are a kind of pretty to - and phal-roots are so cool looking

I second Bellini Girl's advice. Have your loved ones buy you pots as gifts, and treat yourself to some new babies!

Buy the new plants. I have 4-5 different sized "nice" pots that I use to display the plants when they are in bloom. If they're not blooming then I don't see a need for a "nice" pot.

Thanks so much everybody. I will get the plants and just a few cache pots. That way I'll have the best of both worlds. I really wanted more orchids anyway, I just needed all of you the enable me
