This is a very good point. If you are using plastic, or even clay pots, when in bloom, you can just place them inside a larger glazed pot for display.
Think of it this way, you have 70 or so orchids, are you going to buy glazed orchid pots for all of them? Now if your collection was limited to let's say 15 or less plants, then I can see getting the glazed pots (for inside growing).
I grow strictly outside. They are either in terracotta pots, wooden baskets, or mounted. I don't even bring them in when they bloom. I just prefer to go outside often and wallow in their glory.
Now that wgama has given me the bug, I just might put some of the old McCoy pots I have to use.
