, Good day all,
I just bought my first Orchid yesterday and feel like a new mother who has just brought her baby home from the hospital. I have so many questions and hope that the group might be able to help me. I don't want to kill my baby. I bought a Golden Gambol which is absolutely beautiful, but before I start with the questions I will tell you a few things about my home.
I live in the Twin Cities and we are approaching our long winter months and many days of gloom. I keep my home at 65 degrees year round. I do have an office in the basement that runs warmer due to the number of computers and office machines. Now that you know what my Orchids home is like I would like to ask for some help.
How do I provide light for my Orchid on days when there is no sun? If I need to consider a grow light, what do you suggest? Do I need to feed my Orchid and if so, how and with what? I understand that my Orchid needs humidity so I currently have the planter sitting on a rocks with water in them. The water is not directly touching the planter. I live on a well, I suspect that I should not use this water to water my Orchid so what type of water to use? Do I need to mist my Orchid with water? If so how often?
This is not an all inclusive list of questions because primarily I don't know if I am leaving anything out, so if anyone wants to add something I haven't asked, I would be most grateful.
