Default Was this a good buy for $5? Sherry Baby Oncidium

Hi Folks. I can count on you to give me the straight dope.

I don't currently own any oncidiums so I'm not 100% sure if this is a healthy plant or not.

I purchase this plant along with two laelias for $5 each through an ad on Craigslist. I think it is a great buy, but it has some spots on the leaves and some of the bulbs are wrinkled and all.

Please take a look at these images and tell me if you see something that should be of concern.

I'm mostly worried by the spots on the leaves. It appears to be overall healthy with a nice root system.

The plant itself was very dusty and dirty. I thoroughly cleaned it with a damp cloth....

That doesn’t look like a bad buy to me. The spots are a common blemish in that genus and the shriveled bulbs mean it is just a little dehydrated. Just give it plenty of light and it may start to spike for you.

Definitely a good buy. As said the spots are common. Good Job!

Excellent buy!! You saved $20 compared to what I paid for mine... should I have said that? Yeah, mine has spots too. Personally I would repot it... I mixed mine with bark and sphag... about 1 part each.
