Hey Orkie, I like what you are doing. Even though we don't need to do that in FL., we could sure do it and it would work fine. Did you take pics of yours?

My pachara delight was purchased with blooms two years ago. It has not flowered since. I had it under too much shade and moved it to more light, and the leaf tips got fried, so back to medium light it is now. It gets most light from 3-6pm on western exposure no screening, with 70% shade at high noon, from 30% filtered light morning hours.
I just can't seem to water every day and even the the plant is strong, the root system is week. Maybe it'll start blooming soon, as I'm thinking I have it in the right spot, but this past winter was a little harsh on it.

Thanks Swamper! This plant def. tested my patience for the past 3 years and I decided until I bloomed it, I was not buying any other full Vandas or full Vanda hybrids, just intergeneric vandaceous crosses. This plant was a really big deal to me when I bought it, it was my first vandaceous and it was at the first orchid show I ever went to, about 2 months after I bought my very first orchid.
And now, with an orchid festival in just a few weeks, I am thinking it may be time to add in a new Vanda! I've been eyeing V. sanderiana and hybrids with a lot of its influence...
And to the original poster, sorry to hijack! You'll get your Pachara in line.

Joe, it's normally weekly/weakly with the other chids, but I try to fill a few spray bottles when I mix the fert, but still, I can't get to water it every morn.
