Default ID terminology Help

I have a plant labeled "Pot. Kozo Scarlet" "VI-EMI". I determined it is in cattleya family. Can someone help with the terminology? What do VI-EMI and Pot. mean? Thanks

Frank

Pot is short for Potinara, which is a hybrid of Barssavola, Cattleya, Laelia and Sophronitis. I believe the "Vi-Emi" would be the cultivar name, but hopefully someone who is a bit more experienced can help us with that, as I am not completely sure.

I believe that what you have was called Potinara Kozo's Scarlet 'Vi-Emi'. So the Pot you refer to is short for Potinara and all of the rest is the name of the plant.

Kozo's Scarlet is the Grex name of any plant made from crossing Rhyncholaeliocattleya Waianae Comet with Cattleya Pixie Pearls

The 'Vi-Emi' is the name given to a particular cultivar.

This plant has been reclassified as a Rhyncholaeliocattleya rather than a Potinara so the name of your plant is Rhyncholaeliocattleya Kozo's Scarlet 'Vi-Emi'

Thanks. Is cattleya culture appropriate for this plant?

Yep, treat just as you would for any other Cattleya. Happy Growing!
