DynaGro, from what I've heard, is an excellent product. However, I have never used it.
I basically scour the garden centers for fertilizers that I like, or look at orchid shows. I like to use a high-nitrogen (first number) formula while the plants are actively growing, and once the growth is mature and ready to flower, I switch to a high-phosphorus (middle number) formula, switching back to high N after flowering. The high N fertilizers I like are not ones like the 30-10-10 you often see for evergreens, but rather something like a 20-20-10. Even a balanced formula works during growth, like 10-10-10. For high P, I like something like a 10-15-10 or 10-20-10, NOT 10-52-10. DynaGro has a 3-12-6 that would be suitable. I try to avoid fertilizers in which any number is more than 30, and the lower, the better. I apply the fertilizer at 1/2 the recommended strength every week, and flush the pots well with pure (reverse osmosis) water each month to get rid of any salt buildup.
An important thing to do is to water the plants with regular water and let them sit for an hour before you fertilize. This allows the plants to take up the nutrients better and reduces fertilizer burn.
