Two of My babies, Den. oriental carnival and Den. star saphire

I bought these Dens back last summer 08 and now after a year they have both rewarded me with these wonderful blossoms I thought I should share with everyone. I am just really excited as just usually I purchase small plants to try in keep my pocket book intact and every time I am rewarded with more spikes it actually makes me go add more to my collection! So much for saving money.

Love the flowers. I buy small plants as well but started a few months ago. how did you grow them so succesfully? lights/window? rest etc etc?

They're very pretty! It's always so nice to have new growths isn't it, so rewarding . And, uhm.. don't think you can save money when you're into orchids, no matter how hard you try :P.

I think my good luck with these plants is I let them spend their summer out side on the back deck (as do with all my orchids excpect seedlings) under a tree where they get moring sunshine only. Then when the nights get too cool I bring them in adn grow under lights. They seem to grow great and love it, however I was not sure they were going to bloom. It was not untill about 3 or 4 weeks after I brought them inside did I start to see the bud forming. I was so excited. However I think that next summer I am going to try n give a bit more sun and drier contions as they would like this.

Your blooms look wonderful. Very pretty. Being outdoors must agree with them.
