Look who I found among the orchids this morning. Isn't he cute?

I think he was looking for a quick meal, I have lots of little froggies.

Awww, hello little garter snake! Isn't he a pretty one. Neat shot!

I used to find these in the compost at my old house. REALLY BIG!! At least an inch in diameter, and a few of the largest I swear had 2-inch long heads. When they get that big they really start to look like tiny pythons, because the back of their head gets wider and their snout is narrower, instead of the smooth taper that little ones like this guy has.

I still see a few of these around my current house, but nothing like what I used to have. I miss them.

Nothing like reaching for a pot and having a snake slither away! THAT'LL wake you up!

I used to have a greenhouse mouse issue in the winter, but a pair of garter snakes took up residence...

What amazed me was seeing "mama" go after frogs in my pond. Who knew they could swim?

It's always a treat when I see one of these.

I usually see them out in our orchard, this is a first in the greenhouse. They're always about this size, we're close to the river so that must be where the big guys hang out.
