what is this growth on my Dendrobium Hamana Smile?

Depends on how hot it gets up there during the summers.

If it can climb up to be over 100 F, then everyday.

If it stays in the mid to high 80's F, then 3 or 4 times a week, depending on how fast the media dries out between waterings.

They can grow as bright as Cattleyas.

Thanks . being new I read so much about overwatering that I feel it makes me underwater.
One lady that used to work at Lowes watered her phals every other days and she said they were fine and kept blooming after one year. so a friend that had a phal and watered it 3 times a week or so.

when I was in Miami for a while it rained really hard every day at 4 pm more or less. like tons of water. all the vegetation was always a bit wet at night, but everything looked like it was thriving.
