Do any of you use Safer's End All II to soak the plants when you get them to remove all of the nasties? We don't have physan here in Canada so I'm looking for something else to soak the new plants in. What's the concentration you use based on the 50mL per 1L if you're soaking not spraying?
1) The Safer product is an insecticide/miticide. It is nothing more than a soap with a tiny amount of phyrethrins (a plant-based insecticide) in it. It is perfectly safe to use on any orchid. I would bet that 5 ml of liquid dish soap per liter of water would be just as effective.
2) Physan is an algaecide/bactericide/fungicide/virucide for contact disinfection.
The two are totally different and not interchangeable. (I ship Physan into Canada all the time, by the way.)
