This is my first post on the Orchid Board Forums, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly.
I am worried that the third leaf of my Phal has started turning yellow around where it attaches to the main stem (the leaf itself seems completely fine).
If you guys could give me any feedback on whether this is normal/what I should do if it isn't, would be very much appreciated
It's hard for me to tell in the photo, but is it the bottom leaf ? If so, Phals often lose their bottom leaf as they continue to grow. Other than that it looks to be a perfectly healthy plant, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
It'd be more helpful to determine what the situation is when the entire plant with pot and potting media, is showing as well.
Close-up shots are good for pinpointing where the problem area is. But a full shot can be more informative about what possibilities could have caused the problem to begin with.
Right at this moment it appears the plant is just starting to yellow from an old leaf.
If you can give a description of your growing conditions too, it might solidify this idea.
Just to let you know, since your plant has nicely arranged leaves, I'll throw in a little aesthetic pointer.
Face the Phal's leaf tips towards the sun and you won't get leaves that grow every which way and make it look unorganized. Don't rotate them at all, just keep the leaf tips facing the sun.

Really good tip! I used to mark the front of my pots and am now wondering why I stopped doing that ...
