Default web in medium

Hi everyone,
I have a catt that has been doing absolutely nothing obvious for a long time, and although the foliage looks fine, I decided to take a look at the roots to be sure there were no problems underneath. I know it's not active growing season here, so I haven't really been expecting to see an abundance of growth but checking out the roots was just one of those "feelings" we sometimes get. The plant has been in a basket of leca, so when I dumped the medium out, I found a web and inside of it was a dead brown spider. I thought at first maybe it was good that there had been a spider(s) crawling around in the medium to catch any insect that might appear and be a potential problem, but I really didn't know. I wanted to ask your advice before I repotted, so should I just repot as was using the same medium? treat with an insecticide first? or do something different? I'm sorry, I wasn't able to take a picture because I don't have a good camera for taking closeup shots.
I would appreciate any help,
Vicki

I failed to mention in my post that the roots looked fine.

The only arachnid you need to really worry about are spider mites.

Arachnids are not true insects. They have eight legs.

True insects have 6 legs.

Spiders and sporpions are predatory. They feed on insects.

I heart spiders (except for the huge freaky ones). They eat the bad guys!

I don't exactly heart them, but I no longer freak when I bring the tiny ones in with the vacationing house plants!!
